Varsity Football · Bees win the Golden Shoe

The Golden Shoe is back in it’s rightful place after a 57-31 Bees victory this past Friday night against the Bears of North Royalton. The Bees got the scoring started on their first possession when senior Christian Mitchell (5/104 yards) ran for a 59 yard touchdown.

After a back-and-forth first half, The Bees trailed 17-14 going into halftime. The Bears would score 14 3rd quarter points making the game a 2 possession game, but would not find the endzone the rest of the evening. The Bees, on the other hand, scored on all 6 of their second half possessions in route to 609 yards of total offense.
BBHHS would set a single-game rushing record with 469 yards in the game. The rushing attack was a group effort as 3 Bee rushers each had over 100 yards of rushing. Senior Ethan Hatcher led the attack with 189 yards on 17 carries. His 2TD’s on the evening included a 95 yard scamper early in the 3rd quarter that would at the time pull The Bees within 2 points after a successful 2 point conversion. Junior Garrett Kubitz again provided a solid 1-2 punch with Hatcher in the backfield as he would rush the ball 19 times for 109 yards and 1 rushing TD in addition to a receiving touchdown.
Junior QB Joe Labas would account for 4 Bees TD’s (3 passing and 1 rushing) and would finish the night with over 200 yards of total offense. 3 different Bee receivers would find the endzone. In addition to Kubitz, junior Jeremy Jonozzo paced all Bees’ wideouts with 3 catches for 56 yards and a TD. On Senior Night, senior Dylan Clarke would cap off the scoring with a 22 yard TD reception from Labas.

With the victory, The Bees secured at least a share of the Suburban League National Division title in addition for qualifying for a spot in the Division 2 Region 6 playoffs. The 2019 regular season concludes this Friday night as The Bees travel to 2nd place Wadsworth. Kickoff is at 7PM.
